Article Title:Ethnic interpretation in the archaeology of the hunter-gathers in the Prata region
Abstract:
During the 19th century, the Charrua and Minuano Indians participated actively in the definition of the national frontiers in the Prata region. The consolidation of the national States transformed these hunter-gatherers into out-laws, traitors and rebels. Only after their extinction, the Charrua and Minuano Indians were incorporated in the cultural identity of actual population and turned into symbols of resistance and liberty.
