Article Title:Presence and unfinishing: approximations between dance and the critical thinking of Paulo Freire

Abstract:
This essay seeks to generate intersection zones between central dimensions of the thinking of the revolutionary Brazilian educator Paulo Freire, protagonist of the Pedagogy of the Oppressed, and some contemporary procedures of creation in the field of dance. These overlaps thus allow the design of a critical perspective that underlies other possible relationships between the body and society by claiming a fluid, politicized and historicized corporeality. The investigation of the gesture and the materiality of the body in dance thus contributes to a problematization of the fundamental paradigms of our modernized western societies.
