Abstract：
This is a beautiful paper that tells a moving and gripping story of how two people come together to create a mutually vitalizing therapeutic process. And it is a story of courage, mutually facilitated by the two protagonists: Anne's courage in relaxing her lifelong defenses of toughness and laying her needs and vulnerabilities on the table, and Karen's courage to trust her therapeutic instincts by meeting Anne toe to toe by not only challenging Anne's' defenses but by putting her own vulnerability onto the therapeutic stage.
