Article Title:Analysis and reflection on the scope of the development of corporeal awareness in university teacher training
Abstract:
This article reflects on the implications of the development of corporeal awareness in the constitution of autonomous subjectivities linked to the full exercise of citizenship. Bodily Expression is postulated as an artistic discipline which conceives the person who practices it as a subject who is in their body, and which promotes the development of a holistic consciousness which gives it its dimension in humanity: a creative meta-cognitive subject who is constituted in a society and a culture, a being who signifies and re-signifies that body. To do this, Bodily Expression is described in relation to the awareness of corporeality; the conception of the body that prevails in the university system is pointed out and the impact of the exercise of Bodily Expression in their training as university teachers is put on the voices of the students. This analysis brings forth conclusions that bind university education and awareness of corporeality.
