Article Title:MUSICALITY, AN ESSENTIAL ASPECT IN THE TEACHING OF CLASSICAL DANCE
Abstract:
Methodology of Classic Dance need music to be an essential part of the education of pupils. Music and Dance are two artistic disciplines closely linked from the very beginning of teaching, so that the academic study may be joined with music through two main significative fields: on one hand, the meaning of musical accompaniment for a correct technique in the execution of the steps, and, on the other, the understanding of music to achieve a complete artistic and performative sense. Accomplishing the exercises with a musical synchronization offers the student an organic and natural sense of movement from the start of his/her training. Therefore, several principals of music, that depend among them, are to be taken in account, like rhythm, accent and melody. During all the year, pupils of Classic Dance and teachers must work together, so that the former obtain the right ability to embody dance through the correct technique, developing at the same time a rhythmical sensation that allows the emotional and dramatic connection between music and dance.
