Abstract:
The author provides an analysis of how Max Steiner wove diegetic and nondiegetic music in Casablanca (1942) into a meaningful score that illuminates and connects the political and romantic conflicts and themes in the film. The analysis includes background on the creation of the score and analysis of key sequences and motifs.
