Liberace: Behind the music

Author:Berrett, J

Article Title:Liberace: Behind the music

Abstract:
Though pop entertainer Liberace may appear an antique figure of pre-Stonewall self-hate, his performances reveal instead a fascinatingly nuanced dance that took place in plain view of the most conservative audience. Using insights afforded by queer theory, this essay biography how Liberace's flamboyance and innuendo-laden patter enabled both revelation and concealment.
