Article Title:Application of wavelet transform in fatigue history editing
Abstract:
The goal of this study is to investigate if the wavelet transform can be used to accurately edit a fatigue history. Comparisons of fatigue damage between contaminated and denoised signals for the SAE's three strain histories and one real profile obtained from a light railway train were made for evaluating the editing technique. A contaminated signal with some spikes was transformed to verify its capability to identify and removing spikes. The Daubechies' wavelet, DB30, at the decomposition level of 3 is verified suitable for various fatigue history editing. The wavelet transform technique can be applied in performing a fatigue history editing, especially in denoising, spike removal and compression of data set. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
