Article Title:Names of fishing nets on the Ordenanzas-de-los-cordoneros of Seville.: October 24, 1482
Abstract:
This study concerns names of nets on the Ordenanzas de los cordoneros (1482) of Seville. The author's aim is to compare this short hand-written text with the printed Recopilacion de las Ordenancas of Seville (1527), the Ordenancas (1632) and the manuscript of the Ordenanzas of Malaga ([1556] 1989). These texts are analysed in order to fix the form of the words, establish their etymology and trace their history in the development of Spanish. The author also offers some brief notes about other romance languages as aids to the understanding of the form of the words and their meaning.
