Article Title:Jose Maria!Salaverria and the professionalization of the writer

Abstract:
An important change took place in the Spanish publishing market during the first years of 20th century. The writers were highly affected by this change because they began to live off literature working as authors of plays and novels and writing in newspapers. In short, they became professionals of writing in a contemporary meaning. Jose Maria Salaverria is a good example. He worked in this context and he knew how important the new situation was for the authors. Furthermore, he wrote a lot of pages thinking about writers' role in the modern society and in the Spanish publishing market taking into account their activity as professionals and intellectuals.
