Article Title:Shades of Black on 'Homicide, Life on the Street': Progress in portrayals of African American men
Abstract:
Although scholars endorse Frank's Place as a model of televised Black culture, that series lasted only one season, not enough to explore the varied characteristics of African Americans. Homicide: Life on the Street, largely ignored in the literature, survived seven seasons and gave Black actors freedom to develop a richer portrait of differences that define African American men.
